In
seiner Arbeit knüpft Henry Kleine an die verschiedensten
Traditionen und Diskurse in der Gegenwartsmalerei an. Dabei geht es ihm um die
Findung einer ultrasensiblen und zugleich gänzlich unpathetischen Malereiform. So
entstehen abstrakte Kompositionen, die zugleich als mit Gefühlen aufgeladene
oder rein formale Kommentare gelesen werden können – zum Bild, zu den
Empfindungen und Erinnerungen, die es auslöst oder auch zum Akt des Sehens und
Malens selbst.
Henry Kleine’s work picks up on a variety of
traditions and discourses in contemporary painting. He is concerned with
finding a highly sensitive form of painting that is entirely lacking of pathos. The results are abstract compositions that can either
be read as charged with feelings or as purely formal commentaries—to the
painting, to the feelings and memories that it unleashes or to the act of
seeing and painting itself.
